Ottawa, April 19, 2018 –The organizers of the Festival Franco-Ontarien Teksavvy today unveiled the highlights of the event’s 43rd edition, which will take place in Ottawa’s Major’s Hill Park on June 14, 15 and 16, 2018. This year’s festival is all about renewal, with distinctive performances every night, all aimed at bringing artists together and closer to the public and partners.
The Festival’s organizers introduced its new title partner for the next three years. TekSavvy is a Franco-Ontarian telecommunications company from Southern Ontario. “We are delighted to welcome partners to the Festival, particularly when they are Franco-Ontarian,” indicated Festival President Josée Vaillancourt.
Ms. Vaillancourt was excited about unveiling the program lineup for the 2018 edition. “This year, the Franco is changing … into a learning platform and springboard for young artists. The distinctive nightly performances will connect up and coming with established artists, giving them the chance to come together on the Air Canada Main Stage. Moreover, this new formula will give Franco-Ontarian artists and up and coming artists the opportunity to develop new audiences and to perform in a prime showcase”.
The Festival Franco-Ontarien Teksavvywill present three evenings of unique custom-made shows.
SUMMARY OF THE 2018 PROGRAM LINEUP
Thursday, June 14
The Festival will kick off with the spotlight on the darling of Franco-Ontarians, the one and only Damien Robitaille. After five years without any new material, they have been longing for some “sign of life” (the name of one of the songs on his new album) from their guy! He will share his know-how and experience with the next generation joining him on stage, and true to form, bring a few surprise guests to this opening show…
Friday, June 15
A night of rock with the Porn Flakes is always welcome at a festival, and when they gratter around them 100% female artists, it’s even better! Powerful voices, distinctive characters and talent to burn will all be part of the mix on the Air Canada Main Stage, with Lulu Hughes, Kim Richardson, Rebecca Noëlle, Julie Kim and Marie-Mai. This evening will put a whole atmosphère in the Major Park!
Saturday, June 16
Electronic and hip-hop fans will think they’ve died and gone to heaven! Having it all on one stage is not something you get to see or hear every day. Orchestrated by Valaire, artists Alex Nevsky, Yao, Jacobus, Julie Kim, Clay and Friends and Shawn Jobin will reach for the sky. This blend promises a phenomenal finale for the Festival!
Family program for Saturday, June 16
And to round out that terrific program lineup, the Franco brings you shows for the kids on the morning of Saturday, June 16. Young additions to our followers and their parents will be treated to shows by Ari cui cui and the Petites Tounes. Kromatik’s outstanding face painters will also be on hand, as well as some quirky entertainers, inflatable games and mini workshops…in other words whatever it takes to brighten up our little ones’ Saturday morning. Be sure not to miss any of it.
