Ottawa April 17, 2019 – Festival Franco-Ontarien TekSavvy organizers today unveiled the main features of the event’s 44th edition, which will take place at Major’s Hill Park in Ottawa on June 13, 14 and 15, 2019.

Reunions, special collaborations and exclusive appearances are on this year’s menu. Each as impressive as the next, this year’s artists will come together in a unique creative concept to treat festival-goers to plenty of heart sensations, exclusive shows and, above all, unforgettable moments.

Festival President Josée Vaillancourt was particularly thrilled to unveil the program lineup for the 2019 edition. “The Franco is a tradition that goes back 44 years. It’s an opportunity to bring together people from different horizons who have two things in common: a love of music and a love of La Francophonie. For a second year, we will be presenting exclusive shows custom made for Franco audiences. Unforgettable and unique experiences are our trademark! This year once again, the AIR CANADA Main Stage audience will be swayed by old classics, and lifted by new voices and new melodies that are slowly making their way into tradition.”

New development with our media partners

In the spirit of openness and getting the Ottawa-Gatineau community to appreciate the full measure of Francophone music, this 44th edition welcomes a new media partner, JUMP! 106.9. “Francophone music covers all genres: pop, electro, rock, country and much more. We have lots of electro-pop artists this year on the program, and we hope that this new partnership will bring them to the attention of JUMP! 106.9 listeners who are always eager to discover new rhythms, melodies and Francophone mixes that are making the charts around the world. This musical genre is becoming more and more popular, and our Franco-Ontarian artists are right at the forefront and deserve to become widely known,” mentioned Josée Vaillancourt.

A most impressive program lineup has been in the works for the past few months, and we are ready to offer up three nights of celebration and pure musical joy.

Mélissa Ouimet, Patrice Michaud, Brigitte Boisjoli, Mehdi Cayenne, Pierre Guitard and Zaza Finger will be gracing the AIR CANADA Main Stage under the musical direction of Antoine Gratton. And for the icing on the cake, one of the greatest voice of Canada’s Francophonie, the famous DIANE DUFRESNE will join the show to not only share the stage with all the other artists, but also will present her paintings on UNIS TV’s giant screens,  all orchestrated by DJ UNPIER himself, serving as the VJ for the evening.      .

Family program for Saturday, June 15

Kids will have their own moment amidst all of that outstanding program lineup, as a Saturday matinée co-presentation by the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario and the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est. Our young festival-goers and their parents will be treated to shows by Arthur l’Aventurier and the famous Caillou. And to top it all off, there will be extravagant face paintings by Kromatik, zany entertainers, inflatable structures…well, really whatever it takes to bring a smile to our little tykes’ faces on June 15.

“See you at the Franco!”

Alongside all of these terrific activities, there will be a new feature, the “See you at the Franco!” evenings. These VIP evenings will be an opportunity for Ottawa’s French high school alumni to gather and reconnect with former fellow students, and to celebrate our rich Francophone culture as a family. Entertainment, souvenirs, pep rallies and lots and lots of laughter will be on the program for this new tradition, which is about to become one of the essential Festival Franco-Ontarien TekSavvy highlights.
